Convention Centre commercial architecture

Christchurch Convention Centre

Having strong links to the Avon River on one side and the Cathedral Square on the other, the design philosophy evolved from a connection portal between the two icons in an urban context.

Pedestrian focused, the design extends human play elements including an amphitheatre and bridge. The design this iconic building drew inspiration from the Koru representing new beginnings for a community devastated by the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. It is a celebration of strength, spirit and fortitude. Conceptually a spire is a connector to the Christchurch Cathedral and our symbolic heritage.
